BSEB 112 Life Of Paul
Spring, 2008

CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION

A historical study of the life of Paul is made with reference to the geography of his missionary journeys. His methods and accomplishments in establishing churches are a major emphasis. Each of his epistles is viewed in the context in which it is written. Special emphasis is also given to the occasion, purpose and characteristics of each epistle.
1 Semester - 3 Hours

BSEB 112 LIFE OF PAUL COURSE OBJECTIVES

I. GENERAL OBJECTIVES

To provide the student with an informative survey of the character, journeys and letters of Paul

II. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

A. To Provide A Historical Survey Of The Life Of Paul

B. To Provide A Survey Of The Apostle's Methods Of Missionary
Work

C. To Attempt To Re-Create The Atmosphere Of His Missionary
Work

D. To Give A General Survey Of Each Epistle In Regard To Its
Occasion, Purpose And Characteristics

REQUIREMENTS FOR BSEB 112 LIFE OF PAUL

I. ATTENDANCE

A. Tardiness
1. No one enters the classroom during the class devotions
2. All who enter after the devotion are tardy
3. Three tardies equal one absence

B. Absences
1. Absences allowed before dismissal are stated in the student
manual
2. No excuse slip is needed

II. RELATED REQUIREMENTS OF THE COURSE

A. Text Of The Course:

B. Assignments:
1. Textbook tests on each chapter
a. The date of each test will be announced in class
b. Makeup requirements are in the Student Handbook
2. Read 500 pages relative to Life of Paul
a. Maximum of 75 pages per book
b. Minimum of 50 pages per book
c. The reading report form is attached to the class lecture
notes
d. No sermons or lessons can be read for credit
e. Grading scale:
1) 500 pages - 100
2) 400 pages - 80
3) 300 pages - 60
4) 200 pages - 40
5) 100 pages - 20

C. Unit Exams
1. Each Unit Exam will be scheduled at the completion of the
corresponding Unit
2. Make up exams are to be in ASC immediately on returning to
class

D. Video Production
1. The class will be broken up into a number of teams
2. Each team will be given an assignment to build a video for
U-Tube and God-Tube on an assigned topic relative to the Life of the Apostle Paul
3. The purpose of this is several-fold
a. The students will enhance their team work skills
b. The students will be introduced to video production
c. The students will produce a product which will get the
Gospel out to this generation in a unique way


NOTE: It is hoped that as a result of this activity, upon
graduation the students will be able to use these skills within the ministry of their local church

III. TESTING PROCEDURE

A. Unit Exams 40%

B. Textbook Tests 45%

C. Reading Report 15%

NOTE: The lowest textbook test will be dropped


IV. TECHNOLOGICAL INFORMATION

A. All Cell Phones Are To Be Turned Off Before Class
1. Any exceptions must be cleared with the professor prior to class
2. Example of exception: medical emergency at home (stork coming)

B. Laptops Are Encouraged To Be Used In Class

1. The only programs allowed to be opened in class are:
a. MicroSoft Word
b. Bible Program (cf. OnLine Bible)
c. Bible Atlas Program

2. If any other programs are opened (example: games or internet):
a. The student will be counted absent for the class period
b. The student will not be allowed back in class until he / she has an
interview with the professor

NOTE: The student will be required to purchase a paper copy of the notes in the
Bookstore. The student may choose to type the notes into his / her computer. The student has no permission to download the filled in notes of another student's notes just like the student has no permission to make a copy of another students paper copy of the notes.

C. The Use Of Computers In The Classroom Is Not A Right But A Privilege
Granted By The Professor. Do Not Lose This Privilege.
